There's such a temptation to just blurt out the fact that she knows, that Buffy's skipped a whole bunch of things back in the day for the sake of Angel, then Riley, and also just for all of the responsibility that falls on her shoulders as a result of being the Slayer. Sookie's wanted to blurt it out for some time already, wants Buffy to get all the credit that she deserves now that she's been let into an early retirement. But she bites it all back, afraid that it'll garner the same type of response that Angel had, not wanting to upend Buffy's mood pointlessly by pointing out something which might have a perfectly logical explanation. Like alternate universe.
Something like that.
"I just wanted you to know that I'm really enjoyin' this class," Sookie replies as she shifts her weight onto one foot, the knee of her other leg bending as she juts her hip to the side. "I just... well, some personal stuff came up? And it demanded a lot of my attention, but I'm gonna make sure I manage my time better from now on."
